Each aircraft has a green light at the tip of its right wing, a red light on the left wing and a white light on its tail. These lights enable other aeroplanes in the same sector to determine whether the aircraft is heading left or right, whether it is moving towards them or whether it is moving away. In addition, modern aircraft have wing, landing or running headlights to make their movement on the ground easier.
